(#Libya) Dutch Marines Caught by Gaddafi Forces

I bet they won't be released easily like the UK's SAS captured by the opposition forces ...

From Al Jazeera Libya Blog (3/7/2011):

9:34am

Intensive diplomatic consultations are ongoing between the Netherlands and Libya following the capture of three Dutch marines in Sirte on February 27.

The Marines landed their helicopter on the beach of Sirte in an attempt to evacuate two employees of the Dutch consulate in Libya. The Libyan army subsequently arrested them.

The evacuees were transferred to the Dutch embassy shortly after the incident, but the marines remain in Libyan custody. Gaddafi has referred to them as ‘prisoners’.

“We are doing everything we can. Due to the sensitivity of the matter we cannot say when we had our last contact with the Libyans,” a spokesperson of the Dutch defence ministry told Al Jazeera.
